how long does it take to install windows 10 from windows 7

Just came up with an error about the my PC of having a missing start-up file.

Going to burn another DVD and see if this resolves the issue.

If you turn off the internet, unplug its cable or however, its a whole lot faster.

Think an upgrade install here is about 30 minutes. A fresh install is 15.

I'm on a Windows 7 notebook. I clicked a message that said 'Windows 10 is ready to install.' It gave me an option windows where I just clicked 'Next.' Now it has this window with the circling dot animation ... for more than 30 minutes! I suspect it's not doing anything but I'm afraid I would be interrupting the process if I close the window. What should I do?

Go to windows updates. You should find the update for windows 10 there. If it is there it will on take a short while to download and start the installation phase. You can also burn this download to a blank DVD for later installation.

Could be worse. Installing Windows 10 on my tablet has taken over 24 hours! It just takes SO long to restart!

I started the upgrade to Windows 10 on Friday Nov 20th. It error ed out after 24 hours. I disabled my virus protection and firewall.. Saturday morning I finally saw some progress and read a message on my monitor. Windows 10 installation in progress with a status at 0%.. which remained at 0% from Saturday morning to Monday morning @ 4am.. Out of frustration I rebooted my pc.. and went to work leaving a black screen. I will see what progress has been made when I get home at 3:30 this afternoon.

It takes about two hours. One hour to download and one hour to install. Have upgraded 3 P.c.'s and had no problems. Make sure nothing is running in the background. Your PC will reboot several times in the installation. A third installs during each reboot.
